Mr. Tu La Hong  ER KEN JIANG, the honorable minister of Hubei Provincial United Front Work Department and member of the Hubei Provincial Committee, visited the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), and the Chinese National Engineering Research Center for Control and Treatment of Heavy Metal Pollution (Hong Kong Branch) (CNERC-CTHMP (HKB)) on 16th June 2018. Prof, Sabrina LIN, Vice President of Institutional Advancement of HKUST and Prof, Guanghao CHEN, Director of the CNERC-CTHMP(HKB) accompanied the guests.

Prof. Guanghao CHEN briefly introduced the vision of the CNERC-CTHMP (HKB) and highlighted several novel technologies developed by the center, including the SANI process that is expected to be applied in Hubei Province by cooperation with Wuhan Kinghome Ecology and Environment Co., Ltd. (Kinghome) in Hubei, the SFDMBR technology is now pilot trialed at Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works with financial support from ITF and Kinghome; and the MOW-FAST is another promising technology to be applied in future for treatment of food waste via sewage treatment works. Prof. CHEN also announced the concept of “Water2030” which is the research direction for water treatment in future. The minister highly appreciated these developed technologies and the cooperation between CNERC-CTHMP(HKB) and Hubei enterprises, and assured to provide more stronger collaboration opportunities between Hubei and HKUST.
